Dia de los Muertos Concept Shoot

I have had a Dia de los Muertos shoot in my mind for probably years now. But on a drive to San Antonio about two weeks before Halloween, without the baby, I actually had some time to brainstorm and think. I just thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone could rock a zombie look or a scary witch, something fun for Halloween. I didn’t really know what I wanted but I did know? Lol, makes no sense, I know, but in my head it did. Whitney messaged me and said she is a make up artist and would love to play along. So we threw a few ideas out and brainstormed together and came up with a Dia de los Muertos shoot.

The day came for the shoot and it was cloudy and overcast, and at first I thought “awww man, I won’t have any sun to do my bright and warm normal style.” But then I remembered we were already doing something a little different, so I decided to stretch a little and did a much darker than my usual style for these. I’ll be a little biased, but I absolutely love the way they came out!

Then she showed up with her make up and vintage black duster and I just about jumped up and down! She totally rocked it and it was exactly what I was picturing in my mind, don’t you just love it when that happens?  I had seen some shoots with smoke bombs but had never gotten to try shooting with them before, so a concept shoot, or basically where I am shooting for me, is a great time to try new things, so I threw them in the bag and hoped the shots would turn out.  Oh, em, gee.  The smoke bomb ones are my absolute favorites!! I can’t wait to use them again!

If you would like to do a concept photo shoot like this or have something else in mind, please feel free to contact me, I would love to “stretch my legs” a bit!
