Summer is officially over, we are back in school, Labor Day has come and gone and we are slowly dragging ourselves back into a new school year routine. I am a summer gal through and through so I am always sad when summer starts to come to an end. I enjoy being able to sleep in, run into San Antonio to do whatever, our SeaWorld days, weekend getaways, pool days, the list goes on and on! We were so blessed with a fantastic summer, so I wanted to do a little recap for everyone.
We started out our summer celebrating the last day of school with ice cream and pedicures.
We started off our Memorial Day weekend with a trip to SeaWorld with some friends.
After the weekend, we headed to Waco, we had a funeral to attend, so we decided since we were already there we would make a day of it and finally go to the Magnolia Silos. I’ve been a huge Fixer Upper fan for years, so this was like paradise!!! Since we also went during the week, it wasn’t too crowded. We did attempt to eat at Magnolia Table and it was a 3 hour wait, the hostess acted like that was a much shorter wait than normal. We couldn’t believe that! And as much as a three hour wait with a hungry toddler sounded, we went ahead and went to the Silos. They have tons of food trucks so we just ate there. We looked around at everything and then did a quick run through the store.
Then we had swim lessons! Koen did so well, within just a few minutes she was swimming underwater. I can’t wait for her to go back next year and master it! A huge thank you to Kristi and Jolie for taking her on!
We were able to get SeaWorld passes this year and that was the best thing!! We had so much fun and went just about weekly!
We had a trip to the Do Rae Me Lavender Farm
Then Momma had a girls weekend, dinner with local friends and then the beach with another friend!!!
We also are still doing Koen’s gymnastics class, she is loving it! She was even able to move up to the class without parents, which is awesome because I feel like I can finally watch her doing everything instead of helping her with the moves.
We did lots of house projects including refinishing our deck, putting in flower beds and making our guest bathroom pretty finally!
4th of July was fun! We went to the event they do at the square and then grilled at our house.
We had an adult weekend getaway to the coolest AirBNB in Round Mountain. There was a large meeting area where everyone could cook and hang out in and then everyone had their own airstream to sleep in! Some great friends eloped there and were generous enough to turn it into a fun weekend for our group of friends!
When we got back from Round Mountain, Baby the Goat had somehow managed to break her leg while we were gone. So off to the vet we went for a cast and after a couple hickups she seems to be healing nicely.
Then, I turned 31, dun dun dun.
And Koen turned 3! We celebrated with our traditional sprinkle pancakes then a day of fun at the Doseum, followed by an ice cream date with Daddy.
That Sunday, we celebrated with a birthday party. Koen was so into it this year, for the first time she realized what a birthday party was. The entire time she just kept telling us how happy she was that all her friends were there. Everyone had a blast, and even though it was a ton of work, as most birthday parties are, it was totally worth it because she was so happy!
I had about 5 days to breathe before I left for Colorado to photograph the San Luis Valley Fair for the third year. I love this show, the people are amazing, the kids are polite and the weather is fantastic!!! It is always that little break I need from the sweltering heat of south Texas, plus I binge on my favorite iced coffee from my favorite coffee shop-Blessed Brews. This year, I went by myself, so not nearly as much adventuring but it was also kind of nice to be completely alone for a week. I was able to get tons of work done, watch the Netflix series The Crown and read several books. A nice recoup.
Our last big adventure for the summer is our anual family reunion in Concan. We had so much fun, we do every year, but Koen was so much easier this year so that was nice. We had a blast swimming in the pool and river, visiting with family and playing games.
We decided to go to the zoo for our last day before school started, the Australia exhibit was there and we got to see koalas and pet kangaroos, it was so cool!
Then the following Tuesday, Koen started back up at school!! Bittersweet for sure, I love having some time for myself again, but then I miss her of course and it also means we have to get a little more strict with our schedule, blah!
Finally heres a few photos that didn’t really fit with anything, some from back to school shopping, numerous trips to Target and the library, gymnastics and playing in the sprinkler!
I hope everyone had a fabulous summer!
