With Christmas coming up, I thought it would be fun to put together a little gift guide for the professional, aspiring or hobby photographer in your life! I’m going to put together a couple categories, because not everyone wants actual photography gear, ie lenses and cameras. If they are professional photographer, 1. gear is pretty expensive and 2. we write that off and maybe want “fun” stuff vs. “work” stuff.
Actual Gear:
For the aspiring photographer:
This camera has great reviews and looks to be a good starter camera.
This lens is the lens I recommend to every photographer starting out, especially if you want to learn to shoot in manual. It’s cheap, it lasts forever (mine is 8 years old!) and I use it all the time still!
For the pros:
My House of Flynn Camera Bag is soooooo used! I actually have two everyday camera bags and since getting my backpack I’ve never used my other one. It holds a ton of gear, is comfortable to wear long periods of time (I wore mine hiking in Colorado and Mexico), it’s easy to wipe down and I’ve even used it as a camera bag/diaper bag/day bag when we go to amusement parks etc.
This is my every day camera strap, it is a game changer for neck and back pain!
This is the camera strap I use for weddings when I’m using two camera bodies. This is also another version that is very highly recommended.
The Comfy Stuff to Wear While Editing:
My favorite thermal shirt is no longer available but this one is very similar! I also have and love this one.
My absolute favorite blanket I’ve ever bought!
My favorite candles, make sure to search the Volcano scent, Capri Blue makes tons of options for the jar, they are gorgeous and are the best thing you will ever smell, swear!
Comfy Slippers, I have the glitter pair but the sizing was limited, this color has a full run of sizes. These are so comfy and have a rubber sole, so they are great for running outside or doing whatever!
Coffee cups are always appreciated! Here are a few options:
- Here is a cute photography one
- I like these 20oz tumblers for my iced coffee when I’m out and about.
Also, not a creative around ever turned down a Starbucks gift card!
Software and Business Stuff:
Bluelight Glasses aren’t great for editing, but photographers spend a TON of time on the computer doing other things, these are supposed to help with the eye strain.
Photo Mechanic literally changed my life. Culling through images was my biggest time consuming task, after Photo Mechanic, I can knock out entire sessions in just a few minutes!
Air Pods, this is something that is personally on my own list! I’ve heard nothing but good things and I know I tend to watch shows or listen to music and podcasts while I’m editing so these would be great!
Netflix/Prime/Hulu subscriptions. As mentioned above, I watch tons of tv shows while editing. If your photographer friend doesn’t have a subscription already, this would make a great gift!
An Amazon Fire Stick is another great gift, it gives you the option to watch Netflix, Prime, Hulu etc. all in one place and on TVs that aren’t capable for those.
A photographer’s planner and another option
Just Cool Gifts:
This set of neat vintage looking prints
Strawberry Revolution has tons of fun options for t-shirts and other gift ideas for photographers, creatives and entrepreneurs.
An Ornament
This Pop Socket is super cute!
I hope this was helpful during this gift giving season!
